As the state championship season is behind us, kids are getting ready for summer vacations and we continue to work at Tampa BMX to keep it fun and safe for everyone. As in the past we are preparing for the torrential rains of the summer and will be mindful of such when we open the track. Please understand that even if the rain has recently subsided the track is still soft and allowing riders on it would destroy the work we have put into it. Some tracks have even scheduled complete closings for July and or August because of the weather concerns. We will remain open on Wednesday and Fridays throughout the summer following our regular schedule.

Also, effective this Friday June 4^th all races until the Championship Season begins in November will be $5 ribbon races unless a special event is announced. So all summer and fall you can appreciate $3 practices and $5 races! Of course all “First Time” racers will always receive a trophy!

Speaking of special stuff…. This Friday, June 4^th we will be offering DOUBLE Regional points for all riders racing that night. During the break between the moto’s and the mains we will also be distributing L.E.A.P. plates so make sure you are there!

Bill will be scheduling a minor work party in the next few weeks so please stay tuned. We want to keep the track well sealed to be able to withstand the upcoming weather. Summer is the most difficult time for track maintenance but if we can get a few hands to help out we can make short work of it and we will all benefit.

We will also be scheduling the first of three Parent Council Meetings in the next month to get us prepared for our Annual Elections of Officers. If you are interested in participating on the board level please submit your name to Mindy Young no later than August 15^th and plan on attending a minimum of two consecutive meetings as required by our bylaws. I will be publishing a list of candidates in August.
